Residential

Water provided by the Ghana government is perhaps the best in the West African region, yet UNICEF suggests that 76% of households drink water that is contaminated with faecal matter. The government does an excellent job of purifying and chlorinating the water before supplying it to houses but the distribution system is old and uses galvanized pipelines, that are rusty and may contain breaks that allow contaminants into the system. Furthermore, most houses do not wash their water storage tanks often due to the cumbersome process of emptying the tank, which further contaminates the water and what results is foul smelling, turbid water being distributed to the household.

The best way to protect your home is to install a simple whole house filtration system on the main pipeline so that all the water that enters the house is clean and free from impurities. This increases the life of your bathroom fittings and home appliances, by keeping them rust and stain free; eliminates the need to wash your water tank and protects your skin and hair from the harmful effects of chlorine.

To take your safety to the next level, invest in an under-sink water filtration system that provides a continuous supply of drinking water on demand from a separate tap. This can be used to drink, wash your vegetables, cook, sanitize baby bottles and toys and it can be attached to your water dispenser/ refrigerator/ icemaker or coffee machine to ensure that you only drink the highest quality, best tasting, re-mineralized water. All this, while saving money and reducing the use of plastic.

Commercial

Commercial buildings need a steady flow of clean water to prevent unsightly staining in bathrooms, reduce maintenance costs and ensure that employees and visitors always have access to clean water. A centralized filtration system will do just that, and it will save the maintenance staff the trouble of having to undergo the cumbersome process of washing storage tanks.

Additionally, commercial workspaces, shops and offices that have large numbers of people coming in and out of the space everyday end up spending a lot of money buying bottled water dispensers and water fountains. To reduce costs and solve this problem, we offer under-sink drinking water filtration systems and water dispensers that can be installed on every floor to ensure that the highest quality hot/cold water is always available at the push of a button.

Industrial

Our water treatment and waste water systems are used across Ghana in various Industrial factories. High-purity RO water is required in most manufacturing applications; it can be used to clean and sterilize machinery, produce consumables, wash out packaging before products are inserted, for cooling and storage of agricultural products and most importantly, it is used as a universal solvent to manufacture pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, paint etc.

Reverse osmosis is one of the greenest solutions to treat and manage water as it uses cutting edge modern membrane technology rather than chemicals. Alternative water filtration processes require the use of chemicals and the price of acid and caustic solutions continue to rise as the price of membrane elements used in RO decrease. The primary cost for RO is electricity and modern water filtration systems consume little energy so operating costs are relatively low. As there are no hazardous chemicals needed, the health and safety benefits of implementing RO are huge. Traditional resin-based ion exchange systems use dangerous acids and alkalis that pose a threat to those handling it. Furthermore, RO requires minimal operator interaction, only regular monitoring, that Sonapra can manage for you. Membranes can last up to 2-3 years depending on varying factors such as the quality and quantity of the water being fed into the RO system.

In addition to this, as more companies become aware of the implications that incorrect wastewater disposal can have to their business reputation, they will ultimately have to decide how best to manage their wastewater. Reverse Osmosis as well as Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) technologies are widely used for this purpose.

The first step in understanding your industrial water treatment requirement is to analyse your raw or wastewater, depending on your requirements. This way you can establish the water quality you need to achieve. Sonapra helps analyse your water and guides you through this process to find the best solution for you.

Our Industrial water systems are used in the following sectors:

  • Food & Beverage
  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Petrochemicals
  • Paint Industry
  • Paper Industry
  • Mining

Medical & Lab

Having a source of sterile water is a vital aspect in every hospital. Doctors, patients and staff need reliable water for every day applications. From disinfecting surgical instruments and equipment, wound cleansing, drinking water, sterilization before medical procedures, and directly supplying medical devices such as dialysis machines, Sonapra can provide high purity water systems, engineered to meet stern hospital standards and requirements.

According to the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI), Reverse Osmosis is the obvious choice as a core treatment technology for medical and lab use, given its excellent impurity removal spectrum across ionic, organic and microbiological species. AAMI TIR34:2007 states that “Reverse Osmosis filters out contaminants to a high degree of efficiency. It removes particulate matter, organic molecules and pyrogens that deionized water cannot. It is less corrosive to steel and copper.” It is also cheaper to run and maintain than deionized water systems.

Restaurants & Hotels

One of the best ways for hotels to improve customer satisfaction and reduce maintenance costs is to ensure that only high quality, crystal clear water flows through their taps. This greatly improves the experience of swimming and bathing, increases the life of bathroom fittings and electrical appliances, prevents the build-up of rust and staining and reduces the time required for the cleaning and upkeep of bathrooms. Furthermore, a simple filtration system makes all the difference to the appearance of a swimming pool by transforming it from murky to clear in an instant. Once unsightly, permanent stains are formed on bathroom sinks, toilets and swimming pool tiles, it is very difficult to remove them, so we urge our clients to invest in a filtration system that provides a long-term solution.

In addition to this, we recommend that all restaurants get our under-sink drinking water filtration systems to ensure that clean, pure water is available at all times for cooking, washing vegetables and supplying ice makers/ coffee makers. Reverse Osmosis is an absolute necessity in the restaurant industry to ensure that customers do not get sick from consuming the food and regulatory bodies approve the hygiene standards of the restaurant.
